Professor
Kinfe Abraham Wins Peace Award

The
Universal Federation of Peace and the Interreligious and International
Federation for World Peace recently honored Professor Kinfe Abraham
as
Ambassador for Peace
at a ceremony held at Sheraton Alexandria (Virginia) in the United
States |

Professor Kinfe Abraham was
nominated and selected for this great honor on the basis of his firm
dedication to the peaceful settlement of conflicts as indispensable
contributors to economic growth, development and democracy as exemplified
by his involvement in various peace efforts and the embodiment of his
scholarly contributions to African studies and developmental issues.
The
consideration of the Interreligious and International Federation for World
Peace and the Universal Peace Federation on the basis of which the
recognition was extended to Professor Kinfe Abraham also took stalk of his
scholarly contributions to African and international affairs as
represented by his globally published books such as The Missing
Millions: Why and How Africa is Underdeveloped? (1994), The African
Quest: Transition from the OAU to AU and NEPAD (2003), From Race to
Class (1991),
The Politics of Black
Nationalism (1991
and 2005) and other books which dwell on African affairs; Somalia
Calling (2002), Ethio-Eritrean History and Ethio-Eritrean War
(2005), Sudan: the Politics of War and Peace (2006) and other books
which deal with the conflicts of the Horn of Africa and the Great Lakes;
books on the hydropolitics of the Nile like, Nile Hurdles, Nile
Disequilibrium, Nile Dilemmas, Nile Opportunities as
well as books on Ethiopian historiography and development such as
Ethiopia from Bullets to the Ballot Box (1995 and 2005), Ethiopia
from Empire to Federation (2002), Ethiopia the Dynamics of Economic
Reforms (2002), and Profile of The Ethiopian Economy.
The review also included the
various articles contributed by Professor Kinfe Abraham to international
journals, magazines and newspapers as well as the lectures which he
delivered in various international fora in the United States, UK, Japan,
Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, Israel, China, India, Saudi Arabia, South
Africa, Sudan, Nigeria, Morocco, Egypt, Kenya, Uganda, Djibouti and a
number of other countries to which he was invited.
The
Universal Peace Federation and the Interreligious and International
Federation for World Peace are US based international organizations which
recognize and honor individuals whose lives exemplify the ideal of living
for the sake of others, and who dedicate themselves to practices which
promote the founding ideals of UFP and IIFWP which include universal moral
values, strong family life, interreligious cooperation, international
harmony, the renewal of the United Nations, responsible public media and
the establishment of a culture of peace.
The organizations transcend
racial, national and religious barriers, and award the title of Ambassador
for Peace to world and other leaders in various domains who have
contributed to the fulfillment of the hope of all ages, a unified world of
peace wherein the spiritual and material dimensions of life are
harmonized.
Professor Kinfe currently
serves as President of the Ethiopian International Institute for Peace and
Development (EIIPD), President of the Horn of Africa Development and
Democracy (HADAD) International Lobby Group, Ambassador-At-Large as well
as a specialist of conflict and national security studies. |
